Talks cover the development of the Train Window Archive, from the first photographs to a searchable collection of more than 100,000 images from 42 countries.

Workshops use photography and the train window as starting points for exercises in observation, sequencing and working with images.

New York Subway Platform Portrait Workshop

Fifteen strangers were photographed at Smith–Ninth Streets station as a subway train passed behind them. The photographs were then combined into a single linear panorama, showing different moments from the passing train in one image. Photography: @cityandseaatelier
